Freddy Dodge and Juan Ibarra Head Back to the Yukon in ‘Mine Rescue’ Season 5

Freddy Dodge and Juan Ibarra are returning to help struggling miners rebuild their operations, and the first preview presents Season 5 as both a technical challenge and an emotional one. The new run was scheduled to begin on Discovery on February 13, 2026.

The rescue format returns

The series began in 2021 as a Gold Rush spin-off focused on miners whose plants, recovery methods or operating plans were not producing enough gold. Freddy and Juan bring practical experience to each site, diagnose the main losses and redesign equipment or workflows around the conditions they find.

Previous seasons took the team across North America, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Montana and British Columbia. The program first carried the title Gold Rush: Freddy Dodge’s Mine Rescue before adopting Gold Rush: Mine Rescue with Freddy & Juan.

A two-hour Yukon opening

The fifth season was set to open with a two-hour episode titled “Great Klondike Gold Hunt.” The assignment sends Freddy and Juan to the Yukon, where the search covers nearly 300 claims spread across approximately 6,000 acres.

The scale of the land creates a problem that cannot be solved by simply running more dirt. The pair must identify where limited time and equipment can produce the best result, while the miners they are helping continue carrying the financial risk of the season.

The preview emphasizes lasting skills

Promotional material promised that the rescuers would go deeper than before, including work in a mountain range associated with millions of dollars in recovered gold. It also introduced several miners whose operations depend on the changes Freddy and Juan can make.

Freddy described the mission as more than delivering one successful cleanup. His goal is to leave each team with knowledge they can continue using after the cameras and rescue crew depart. That focus helps explain why the preview combines machinery, gold totals and highly personal reactions.
